Hydrilla has covered much of this pond for the past decade. Floating algae mats walso abundant, often covered with duckweed, watermeal, and another non-native species Azolla or water fern. Azolla is similar to duckweed but has a bumpy appearance and a reddish coloration. Applications of aquatic herbicides in combination with the Division of Fish and wildlife's aquatic weed harvester have been used to control this vegetation.

Wagamons Pond Description
Not crawling with fish, but boasting many of nice size (over 15 inches) fish is a good description of Wagamons Pond’s largemouth bass situation. Although the overall catch rates were below average for Sussex County ponds, the proportion of larger fish was high. Average weights were good and growth was average. Both the shoreline along the road and the northern shore tend to hold bass due to the dropoff just offshore. Bluegill were present but no black crappie were observed during sampling in 2005. Yellow perch, however, were more abundant in Wagamons than any other Sussex pond. In past years, occasional white perch have also been taken. Citation pickerel, crappie, white perch, and yellow perch have been reported in recent years. Redear sunfish were first collected from Delaware here in Wagamons Pond in 1994. However, this non-native introduction has been made to TPond and is now more abundant there. Still, occasional nice-sized (over 10 inch) redear sunfish have been collected here. This pond has a fish ladder from the Broadkill River to provide access to the pond forriver herring (alewife and blueback herring) to spawn there. This ladder has passemore herring than any other in the state. It is unlawful to fish within 10 feet of the entrance M The extensive drawdown during dam reconstruction exposed numerous stumps and logs in the lower third of the pond. These should pose no navigational hazard to boats during periods of normal water levels, and when those normal levels are in place, the stumps provide exellent deep water structure for largemouthbass,crappie,and yellow perch. Working the open water in the old creek bed is often very productive due to these stumps.
