Spatterdock is abundant along much of the shoreline in the back half of the pond, especially during the summer months. A bright green coloration in the water during July indicates the presence of a blue-green algae bloom, but fishing is not usually impacted.

It is unlawful for any person to fish within ten feet of the entrance or exit of a fish ladder or remove fish from any ladder between March 15 and May 30. This regulation was passed to protect the river herring from harvesting while they are confined in the fish ladder.
