Comment: Much of the lower end of the pond has been colonized by hydrilla. This non-native species is an aggressive grower and quickly out competes most species of native plants. It grows to the water's surface by August and can greatly impede fishing. Water clarity is good, however, so fish the outside edge of the hydrilla beds or along the channel. There is a mix of bladderwort, fanwort (another non-native) and coontail that grow in scattered areas throughout the pond. Much of the shallow areas (less than 3 feet) support extensive stands of spatterdock. Fishing along the edges of these beds, especially in the lower half of the pond, is often productive.
